I recently had a small flood in my basement. I pulled up the parquet floor to limit the damage to the wood. I have solved the flooding and dried the floor completely. Is there any special way of reinstalling the parquet floor?
It is imperative that the floor be completely dry before you put the flooring back in place. Once you are certain of this, you can proceed and replace the wood. However, if the parquet floor was exposed to any water it is likely that some minor damage occurred. Check that the floor has not swollen and that it will lie in an even pattern. If necessary, trim the edges with a table saw. You should have to sand and revarnish the floor only if it is not smooth and even.
