Jam has been the perfect companion to peanut butter for ages, but there’s more to do with this sweet condiment than spread it on bread. Here are five great ways to add a touch of sweetness to some of your favourite foods.
2. Add a Spoonful to Yogourt or Cottage Cheese
In moderation, yogourt and cottage cheese are both fantastic sources of protein, calcium, and many other important nutrients. But they can be pretty boring on their own. Stir your morning meal up by adding a spoonful of jam to plain yogourt or cottage cheese-it’ll add an instant burst of flavour without too many extra calories.
3. Mix Up a Homemade Vinaigrette
Want to make your own salad dressing, but worried it’ll wind up dull? Just add a bit of raspberry jam to a basic recipe of olive oil and balsamic or rice vinegar-it’s a zesty dressing with almost no effort! Other ingredients you can toss in include lemon juice, garlic, Dijon mustard, herbs, and salt and pepper.
5. Make a Brie Puff Pastry
Brie and fruit is a divine combination. For an easy, tasty hors d’oeuvre, slice up a wheel of brie, add a dollop of your favourite jam to each slice, wrap them up in individual pieces of premade puff pastry, and bake. Your appetizers will be the hit of the party!
