5 Things to Do With Tea
Legend has it that tea originated some 5000 years ago with the Chinese emperor Shen Nung. Here are some other things to do with tea – besides drink it.
Things to Do With Tea: Reduce Razor Burn
Here’s something to do with tea. If you forget to replace a razor blade before you start shaving, it’ll probably hurt when the blade is dragged across your skin. To soothe razor burn, and relieve painful nicks and cuts, apply a wet tea bag to the affected area. And don’t forget to replace the blade before your next shave.
Things to Do With Tea: Stop Foot Odour
Another thing to do with tea is stop foot odour. Put an end to smelly feet by giving them a daily tea bath. Just soak your tootsies in strongly brewed tea for 20 minutes a day and say good bye to offensive odours.
Things to Do With Tea: Tenderize Tough Meat
Other uses for tea include tenderizing tough meat. Even the toughest cuts of meat will melt in your mouth after you marinate them in plain old black tea. Place 4 tablespoons of black tea leaves in a pot of warm (not boiling) water and steep for 5 minutes. Strain to remove the leaves and stir in ½ cup of brown sugar until it dissolves, then set aside. Season up to 1 ½ kilograms of meat with salt, pepper, onion, and garlic powder, and place it in a casserole dish with a lid. Pour the liquid over the seasoned meat and cook it in a preheated 165˚C oven until the meat is fork tender- about 90 minutes.
Things to Do With Tea: Give Roses a Boost
Give roses a boost with used tea. Sprinkle new or used tea leaves (loose or in tea bags) around your rosebushes and cover them with mulch to give them a midsummer boost. When you water plants, the nutrients from the tea will be released into the soil, spurring growth. Roses love the tannic acid that occurs naturally in tea.
