Gallery 2: Readers’ Best Photos of Canada
We asked and you responded with your best photos of our land. You sent in your favourite photos: from coast to coast, city to country, day to night. Here are a few of the images we received.
Man in Canoe
Megan Groves, who lives in Burlington, Ont., took this photo at 6 in the morning while on a camping trip to Algonquin Park in August 2007. She did not know the man in the canoe, and even though he was far away, she says it was so quiet that she was able to carry on a conversation with him from shore.
Darlene Looy was excited “to finally arrive at ‘The Rock’ only to have it covered in rain clouds. Suddenly, as we were turning away in disappointment to go to our lodging, the sun broke through, lighting up the Rock with tongues of gold and the promise of a beautiful rainbow!”
This picture was taken from the top of a water treatment plant by Jill Este of North Bay, Ont. It’s early summer in Parry Sound.
Row Boats Waiting
Darlene Looy of St. Thomas, Ont., writes, “this is what the East Coast is to me-an ancient way of life. A small dingy awaits, moored, enabling the sailors to row out to their fishing boats in the early morning.” These boats patiently wait in Peggy’s Cove.
Deer at Dawn
“On my way to work one morning,” says Lorraine Roberts, Rocky Mountain House, Alta., “The deer stood there for several minutes and let me enjoy this peaceful scene.”
