Beaver
George Adamchuk created this beaver through intarsia art, a woodworking craft with a finished product that looks like it’s painted, but it’s actually all made using various types of wood together to create that effect, no paint!
Pelican
“In Intarsia art, each piece of wood is individually cut, shaped and sanded before being fit together like a jigsaw puzzle and glued to a piece of quarter-inch plywood cut to the shape of the final product,” writes Dianne. “Sometimes, additional pieces of plywood are used to raise areas of the pattern, which creates more depth for an almost 3-D effect. Once assembled, a final layer of finish is applied and the project is complete.”
Dog Sled Team
“My dad made this piece of a husky dogsled team for my sister, Debbie,” shares Dianne. “It was to celebrate the annual Trapper’s Festival in The Pas, Man., where she used to live.”
